Abit about Me and Mine!

Hi! Thanks for stopping by my blog. Here's a little bit about me, and how I got to where I am.

As a child, I helped my Mum with the cooking...occasionally.  However, when I got married (9ya), my cooking skills were pretty much non-existant.  I couldn't even boil an egg...arrg!  Anyway, I soon learnt, from many phone calls home to my Mum, who was always ready to give me the instructions I was in desperate need of.

My natural health journey began when I had a mystery illness.  I went to the Dr about 5 times in 4 weeks and each time he told me I had the flu and sent me on my way.  On my 4th visit, I gently demanded that I wanted blood tests, reluctantly he agreed and the results were soon back, indicating my liver was under functioning  possibly because I had had glandular fever which was inactive but had once been live in my body.  I went to a naturopath and she gave me some potions and powders and I soon began to feel better.  I saw a naturopath on a very regular basis as I started to prepare to start a family. I had food intolerance tests done and did everything I was told and took everything I was told to take and avoided all the foods that were undoubtedly making me feel blah! I wanted my body to be the best home to a growing foetus to set my child up with a good start.

Years later as our first child came along and she began solids, without even realising it, I kicked into 'Mother' mode and put on my 'cooking' hat!  I read a book 'Additive Alert' by Judy Eady, and was in shock at what can legally be put in our food.  I was determined to breastfeed my baby and feed her only foods that I myself had prepared, free of preservatives and additives.  So this is what I did! All this cooking, that I wasn't very good at was very time consuming and involved lots of dishes etc.  So when I was offered a Thermomix demonstration, I jumped at the chance and after much research and seeing the demo, I knew I had met my Kitchen Companion.  We ordered it and have never looked back!

I was always reading health books and articles and I just couldn't get enough information about food and health. So I decided to study to become a Nutritionist and grow my passion to its capacity. With 3 interstate moves and another baby since I began my studies, I finally finished in April 2013.

Gradually, my cooking skills have improved thanks to my kitchen companion and now my Husband and children love my cooking. Recently we have cut grains out of our everyday diet and  I therefore tend to mill my own flour from seeds and nuts, in my Thermomix. Now that my Daughter is at prep, this means she cant have nuts in her lunch-box, so me being me thought 'how am I going to get around this? She still needs to be getting her good fats and proteins through the day and if she cant have nuts, what can I give her in their place? SEEDS!!!' You will notice that most of my recipes are grain free and a lot of them are made from seeds.  This is why!

I love seeing the improvement that good eating brings on someone's health and therefore decided to start a business 'Rejuven-Eat & Revital-Eyes'.  Children's health is my passion as I believe that nutrition in the early years is paramount to healthy foundations and the rest of their life. I believe and have personally experienced with my own children that the band aid effect can only every be temporary.  If you want to stop the symptoms, you need to get to the root of the problem.  I do believe in orthodox medications in serious cases, but for long term well-being  isn't it best to fix the problem and not have to be reliant on pills??  Because lets face it, if you dont know what the cause is and your taking a pill to suppress the symptoms, more and more symptoms are going to rear their ugly head, because the thing that's causing the symptoms is still unrectified and possibly getting worse.  I encourage whole foods  full fat foods, grass fed and grass finished meats, low grains, lots of veggies  moderate fruit and lots of water, sunshine and rest! I believe that when teaching and training a child in healthy eating, that it is essential that the children see their parents eating the same things.  I also believe its easier for them to begin eating well, as oppose to trying to change habits that are already there.

My role as a  fully qualified and accredited Nutritionist is to work with the client, with the stage they are at and with what they have and develop a treatment plan that is specifically tailored to their needs, conditions, medications and goals. I want people to feel how I feel, healthy, energized, pumped but rested, happy and fulfilled.

I have several testing methods available including;
  • zinc tally
  • pH
  • hair mineral analysis
  • food intolerance testing
  • heavy metal testing
  • gut dysbiosis testing

I also am able to provide practitioner only supplements if required. If you wish to gain control of your health and implement some healthy changes, you can contact me on any of the methods below.
